“Giddy grasshopper/ Take care...do not leap and crush/ These pearls of dewdrop” ― Issa(1763-1827) - Japanese Haiku
Haiku + Senryu
Haiku is a seasonal, reverent celebration of a subject (nature or people) trying to make a feeling.
Senryu tends to have a victim and may be humorous or irreverant trying to make a point.
- paraphrased from Michael Dylan Welch's Graceguts

bagel...
little sand snail
celebrates new summer with
a living bagel
NOTE
Sand snails lay eggs in kidney-shaped egg jellies.
If you hold one up to the light, you will see spots inside which are the tiny eggs.
This photo was taken at Rosebud beach.

Origami
One of many colourful, unusual kites flying in the annual Kite Festival held this weekend on the Rosebud foreshore, Mornington Peninsula.
Strange kite fantasies
Like some origami dreams
Waiting to unfold

Heath
Heath on the Rosebud foreshore by Port Phillip Bay on the Mornington Peninsula
Ravaged by salt winds
Deprived of gifts from rich soils
Blinded by hot suns
Stands up to hot suns
Clings to the hope of pale sands
Heath on the foreshore

In the spirit of Masaoka Shiki...

warm red gloves on my hands
glued with white ice
glued with white heat
reaching for echoes of
