Haiku + Senryu

Haiku is a seasonal, reverent celebration of a subject (nature or people) trying to make a feeling.
Senryu tends to have a victim and may be humorous or irreverant trying to make a point.
- paraphrased from Michael Dylan Welch's Graceguts

my days may be grey...

my days may be grey
I may be shrouded in mist
but somewhere sun  shines

NOTE:
The photo above was taken on the Dromana foreshore track - December 2011.
Summer was just beginning.

while vines are sleeping...

while vines are sleeping
cooling skies and lonely art
exchange their sad sighs

NOTE
Montalto Vineyard, on the Mornington Peninsula near Red Hill, pictured above, has many unusual  artworks scattered through the vineyards.
Somehow in the Autumn/Winter season, those artworks seem quite stark - with the leafless vines as a backdrop.

Fortitude

Our back verandah, with all its side branches and viewing deck, is almost gone.
The wood was just getting too rotten and unsafe.
Rather than repair, our landlord chose to remove it.
So now we are waiting for the new one to emerge.

when old worlds are stripped
fortitude clasps next beauty
close to the spirit

See how many are better off than you are, but consider how many are worse.

Cacophony

One of the attractions at the recent Westernport Festival at Hastings on the Mornington Peninsula.

A magic circus
Cacophony of hues like
A candy rock band

Origami

One of many colourful, unusual kites flying in the annual Kite Festival held this weekend on the Rosebud foreshore, Mornington Peninsula.

Strange kite fantasies
Like some origami dreams
Waiting to unfold

How full of trifles everything is! It is only one's thoughts that fill a room with something more than furniture

Sugar

A view of cold dawn sea mist some months ago (it is summer now) in my Dromana on the Mornington Peninsula

World of wires and leaves
A sugar dust of dawn light
Visual magic
